Anitra Jay is an acoustic soul singer-songwriter based in Houston, TX. With a recent musical feature on HGTV’s Tiny House Hunters, Anitra Jay presents a whimsically soulful all-caution-to-the-wind interpretation of music. Born and raised in New Orleans, Anitra’s vocals highlight her roots in Jazz, Soul, and Gospel.  With a musical style often compared to India.Arie and Chrisette Michele, Anitra Jay offers a sweet down-to-earth blend of soul and poetry with modern sensibilities.  Her personality and expert improvisational skills set her performances square between the raw edge of improv comedy and sultry soaked soul.  She effortlessly combines soul-catching melodies with tales of real life experiences wrought with motivational messages that leave the listener entertained, inspired, and ready to take on the world.  She is currently working on her fourth album, a whimsical take on life called “Work in Progress.”

  • Live Music Performance by Max Flinn

    09/19/19. 11:30 am-1:30 pm

    3 Greenway Plaza
    Houston, TX 77046

Join us in welcoming the ever talented Max Flinn to The Hub at Greenway Plaza.

Max was born and raised in Houston, TX. His love for Texas country music started in Junior High and was heavily influenced by Pat Green, Robert Earl Keen, Cory Morrow, and company. Playing music was never more than a hobby for most of his teens and twenties. He would entertain friends and family members but the idea of a career in music didn’t ever cross his mind. Max was battling some pretty heavy demons during those lost years. What started as partying on the weekends turned into full-blown drug addiction before long. His struggles are what makes his music so authentic. David Garrick of The Houston Press wrote “… his music is so sincere and heartfelt, that you immediately see him as so much more than those Nashville stereotypes”. There is no choice for Max but to tell his story. Since 2012 he has been clean and sober and found his true purpose is helping others recover, whether that be through his music or community outreach.

With a degree in Finance from the University of Houston, Max took a full-time job in the oil & gas industry. It wasn’t long before he knew his heart was elsewhere. Determined to find a way to turn his dream into a reality, he sought out some local musicians and open mics. He recalls that first time introducing himself on stage as “a terrifying moment”. After four years as a financial analyst it was time to take a leap of faith. Slowly but surely he gained enough of a following and stacked up enough regular gigs to leave the security of a corporate job behind. “Playing music is my Plan A right now. I don’t think about a Plan B because I don’t even want that as an option in the back of my mind. I’m determined to make a living doing what brings me joy”, he says.
